Vincent Orsolini’s newest EP is Neo soul on a mission
Vincent Orsolini is a composer, both in terms of music and community.
His newest EP “It’s About Time,” brings together the unique musical styles and artists who inspire him. Fusing jazz, funk, disco, rock, R&B, and more, the EP’s four tracks feature fellow Kansas City musicians Kadesh Flow and Kemet Coleman.
There is a richness and orchestral quality about the collection: balladic piano swelling to groovy bass lines and brass sections; complex instrumentals and choral interludes softening to underscore thoughtful lyricism. Universal in essence, Orsolini’s songs reflect on resilience, relationships, and personal healing. While the surrealism of the EP’s cover art and references to meditation (“Rise Up”) call to mind questions of consciousness.
Driving it all is Orsolini’s mission to bring cultures closer together, to support people in their healing, and to foster a healthy community for musicians and creators.
Since moving to Kansas City eight years ago, Orsolini has invested himself in the creative scene – writing and composing with local jazz bands and indie artists, founding a record label (Castle Studios), and working as a producer with his hand in multiple movie projects.
Born in San Francisco and raised in the south of France – Orsolini credits his multicultural upbringing for a global perspective balanced by a desire to connect locally. An active contributor to the Kansas City music scene, Orsolini also maintains connections in France and Los Angeles.
